3 Initial Ideas
Idea 1:
Idea 2:
My first idea will be filmed in a field whilst the sun is setting to get some good lighting shots as well as a whimsical look. I will use one of my friends as an actor to walk/pose round the field holding/using the perfume, wearing an outfit that fits with the theme of the perfume and the surroundings.
This will give the ad a gentle and appealing feel to it. It will be, in a way, calming as I will use a relaxed song that fits with the overall theme I'm going for. The advert will include slow lingering shots to emphasis the laid back, relaxing feel. I'm aiming for this advert to be a transfer style as it will make the audience feel positive, causing them to think that the product will do the same for them if they purchase it. The girl will be laughing and smiling throughout the advert which sends out a positive message to the audience and convinces them further to buy the product.
This will be an ethos styled advert as my model would be a "celebrity" as this would encourage people to want to buy it, as they would want to be like the celebrity being shown. I know that if I do this idea I will have more than enough time to film and edit my piece, but I feel like it's quite a simple generic idea and playing it a bit safe. Saying this, I would have piece of mind knowing that I can definitely achieve what I want to do and know that I'm not doing anything that will take too long, therefore not handing in work that I'm not happy with.
My second idea is to use the studio to get some bright, rapid lighting with loud bass music. It will use a variety of quick shots to give a sense of urgency and excitement as well as slightly disorientating the audience. This will give it a very cinematic feel as there will be a lot going on and will look very visually appealing. I like this idea as it's something I've never really tried to do before, therefore setting a bit of a challenge for myself in terms of editing and filming, as well as actual production.
This would also be an ethos styled advert as it will, again, use a well known "celebrity" to promote the product. This will further encourage the purchase of this product because, as well as the use of a celebrity, the overall feel of the advert will be somewhat empowering, thus making people think that by using this product, they too will feel like that which will encourage them to want to buy the product so they too can feel like that.

I feel as though if i decide to do this idea, I'll have to ensure I give myself enough time to complete all the tasks I set myself as there will be a lot do to in a very short amount of time. It would be a lot of work but I do it right, I think the end result would look like a real perfume advert that you would see on TV.
Idea 3:
My final idea would be shot at the beach. This will give it a light and carefree feel as it would be bright and cheerful. The beach setting would add to this effect as the ocean is often associated with being relaxing, and will add a nice feeling to the advert that I feel as though a lot of people would be drawn to. This would, in a way, be very similar to my first ad in the sense that it's going to be very relaxed and upbeat, promoting a feel good, glamorous product that people will want to buy.
This, like my other 2 ideas, will be an ethos advert as it will take advantage of the use of a "celebrity" to promote the product and encourage people to buy it as they want to be able to feel like their sharing a similarity with their favorite celebrity.
I think that this advert, in a way, is also quite easy to be able to achieve as it doesn't involve a whole lot of editing and will be easy to film as there are limited movements. Yet at the same time, for this time of year it will be hard to film as it'll be very cold and windy at the beach, therefore having a negative effect on the quality due to the actor I'm using struggling to move about properly due to thing wind and cold.
Final Idea:
I have decided to pick idea number 1 as, like I said before, I want to do something that I'll enjoy doing, yet know that I'll be able to complete it all on time to a good quality. If I had longer to do the project,I would probably go for idea number 2 as I could have more time to play about with the lighting and make it look exactly as I want as I will have more time to practice and research into it.
As much as I want to push the boundaries with my work, I also want to be able to give in a piece of work that I'm proud of and I know that by picking this idea, I'll definitely have the time to accomplish everything that I need/want to do within the time frame that we've been given.
All my adverts follow the ethos technique as I feel as though pathos and logos don't really work for perfume adverts, due to it being a luxury product, therefore giving the adverts a certain standard to reach in terms of making it appealing for the target audience. Unless a product was specially made for a charity, for example, I don't see a way of making it into a pathos advert.
Overall, I am happy with my idea and am looking forward to seeing the end result. It is simple, yet effective, and will easily promote my product to my target audience due to the features and techniques that I will be using throughout the advert.

Really good work at outlining multiple ideas for your chosen product, as well as to linking them to the rhetoric advertising techniques.
ReplyDeleteYou have explained why you have 'personally' chosen a particular idea, what I would like you to do to develop this further is to link your idea to your research. For example, how has your advert analysis help you develop your idea or is there something you've learnt from your audience research, that might influence it in some way?
Remember that we do research for a reason, I want to see a clear link between what your learnt from your research and the decisions being made to develop your idea.
